Welcome – Katharina Alber Boogie

Hey! I am glad that you visit my website. Do not hesitate to look around! For all questions, bookings or other requests, I am of course always happy to help.

My name is Katharina Alber. I am 25 years old. I discovered my love for music at the age of 5, when I started taking piano lessons at the music school.

As a granddaughter of the Innsbruck jazz legend on the piano, Artur Rogger, I got an early insight into the jazz scene. Since I am very enthusiastic about instruments, I also later learned clarinet and saxophone to make music together with my grandfather. At the age of 20, I met Robert Roth, the man on the boogie piano, and began to take lessons from him. The boogie woogie, known primarily as a dance, immediately captivated me.

Boogie Woogie awakens life and lust for life in every human being, has a lot of emotion and brings momentum into everyday life. Every year I visit the Robert Roth Boogie Festival and had the opportunity to play together with international stars of the music scene.

Based on these great experiences, in 2015 I decided to start my own boogie and jazz festival.

Katharina Alber & the Boogie

Already as a small child, my grandfather Artur Rogger fascinated me with his style of playing the piano. To his character a firm and legendary greatness in Tyrolean jazz, he taught me to play the piano in my early years. Artur accompanied me during my first attempts on the piano and still plays with me on many gigs (for example my festival, Jazz live in the Gritsch).

In my later years with already gained experience in piano playing, a more coincidental encounter with the Tyrolean star boogie pianist Robert Roth brought the final decision to devote his own piano playing to the Texan style boogie-woogie.

“Boogie Woogie is a style of music that brings people from all over the world together and makes them sing and dance.

Boogie Woogie has emotion, pulls the audience along and brings momentum into everyday life.

For me, sitting at the piano is the greatest thing to do, watching the audience clap with enthusiasm and rock their feet to the music as I let the sounds of the boogie sound. “

(Katharina Alber)

Already as a little girl it was my dream to be on stage and to present my own event.

I discovered my love of music at the age of 5, when I started taking piano lessons at the music school.

As a granddaughter of the Innsbruck jazz legend on the piano, Artur Rogger, I got an early insight into the jazz scene. Since I am very enthusiastic about instruments, I also later learned clarinet and saxophone to make music together with my grandfather.

At the age of 20, I met the Tyrolean boogie pianist Robert Roth and began to take lessons from him.

The boogie woogie, known primarily as a dance, immediately captivated me.

Since almost every boogie pianist organizes his own festival and once a year invites pianists from all over the world, I decided to launch my own festival two years later, “Kathis Boogie and Jazz Festival”.

The festival was to be a meeting place for all music lovers of all ages and to give all visitors happy hours.

“I’m proud of Kathi!

It cost me countless keystrokes and a lot of sweat to learn the Boogie Woogie piano and put it on stage. Kathi wanted to know how to bring the boogie groove to the piano, and I soon realized that there was a special fire going on here. Now her time has come … her consistent practice pays off and she has already conquered numerous international stages. She is the way she is … with her charisma, she conquered the hearts of the audience at her first own festival concert in 2015 and won loyal fans, who now look forward to the third edition of their event. Anyone who has never been there has missed something and can enjoy an evening with Kathi and international boogie stars at FoRum in Rum on 30.09.2017 at 20.00. Sitting still Missing … the countdown is on and soon a pianistic firework will be lit, with flying fingers on the keys, show deposits and a pinch of humor. “

(Robert Roth about Katharina Alber)

Boogie Woogie – The Music

Boogie-woogie piano style, which has its origins in the 20th century in the USA. As a successor of the Barrelhouse piano, which was created as early as the mid-19th century, the boogie became very popular, especially in the 1920s, due to the immigration of dark people into the North of the USA. As a special feature in connection with the emergence and spread of boogie-woogie is often spoken of the so-called “house rent parties”. The owner of the house or apartment made his premises available and took care of a musician and drinks (mostly liquor) and financed in this way by the entrance fee his rent and / or additional costs.

Just the way Boogie-Woogie became popular and well-known shows the relaxed and cheerful style of music. Boogie is a style of music that brings joie de vivre, ease and fun to dancing. Many boogie pianists have influenced the boogie-woogie with their playing style and interpreted it in their own way. Now I want to continue this “legacy of great music” to please my audience and people.
